Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. A few took the road to Colorado due to Denver's famous songs for his home state. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame, said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado in the same way as John Denver." In the year 2011, Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. Denver is now the embodiment of Colorado to the people all over. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other end of the planet, one who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles following a performance with a small folk music bands. It was co-written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff initially wrote the song with Johnny Cash's music with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver realized from the first time he heard early versions that the song was going to be an instant hit. The song was first recorded several weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
